New projects for China

The success of the POLITO Studio project continues, the workshop course designed by the Polytechnic of Turin and the Association of Architects to enhance the skills of Italian designers through participation in architecture competitions in China. A few months after the project began, the 12 architecture studios involved in POLITO Studio, united in the TDH – TURIN Design Hub group, ranked fourth in the international architecture competition for the Meiguan Innovative Corridor, in China, out of a total of 21 entries.

This is the first successful outcome of POLITO Studio’s first workshop, which took place in July and September 2021 with two appointments focusing on the cultural, technical, and procedural tools that are essential for dealing with a contest in China. As a concrete case study, the TDH grouping tackled the architectural and urban design competition for the Meiguan Innovative Industry Corridor of the Shenzhen Design Centre, one of the hearts of the Greater Bay Area, a strategic economic and political area with cities such as Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen at its center, which has undergone major urban transformations in recent years.

An excellent result that confirms that POLITO Studio is on the right track, pursuing the ambitious goal of promoting the skills of Italian designers at an international level. Soon, the second POLITO Studio workshop will start, involving participants in the application for a new competition: Beyond Yue Planning and Design Competition. #StayTuned!
