Exhibition Chinese Voices on Palladio presented in Beijing

The Italian Cultural Institute in Beijing hosted a preview of Chinese Voices on Palladio, an exhibition curated by Politecnico di Torino in collaboration with Tsinghua University. The exhibition, sponsored by the Italian Embassy in Beijing and the Italian Cultural Institute, will be open to the public from 12 July until mid-October 2026 at the Tsinghua Art Museum.

The project, curated by Michele Bonino, Pierre-Alain Croset, Giorgia Cestaro and Edoardo Piccoli for Politecnico di Torino, and Qing Feng and Li Luke for Tsinghua University, is conceived as a contemporary reflection on the legacy of Andrea Palladio, bringing into dialogue the principles of his architecture (proportion, harmony, symmetry and relationship with nature) with contemporary Chinese design thinking, through the contribution of some of the most influential Chinese architectural practices.

PoliTO Studio, a collaborative project between Ordine Architetti di Torino and Politecnico di Torino, played a key role in the Beijing preview, overseeing the exhibition and graphic design aspects of the installation hosted in the Institute’s Auditorium. The exhibition concept was developed by Alessandro Cacioppo, Francesco Carota, Gabriele Gatti, Francesca La Malva, Alessandro Servalli and Luca Zanon, with the contribution of PoliTO Studio’s China Room, represented by Edoardo Bruno and Alp Arda.

The exhibition is part of a wider programme of events in China dedicated to Palladio: the historic exhibition Geometry, Harmony and Life. The Architecture of Andrea Palladio from Antiquity to Classicism is currently on display at the National Museum of China. Chinese Voices on Palladio offers a contemporary reinterpretation of his work through the contributions of twelve Chinese architectural firms.

The presentation also took place as part of the official visit to China by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, who attended the preview of the exhibition.
